About the Conference
This conference is an annual opportunity for networking, increased awareness and collaboration between health care executives and the information technology industry.
The fourth annual Okanagan Technology Symposium was held June 26 - 27, 2002 at the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Titled "Health & Technology" this year, the Conference & Exposition examined how technology and integrated health solutions can improve the delivery of health care in the 21st century.
The audience included 500 health care executives and practitioners, senior policy makers and funding providers.
Keynote speakers included Stephen Owen, Minister of State, Government of Canada; Hon. Colin Hansen, B.C.'s Minister of Health Services; Lee Denny, B.C.'s Chief Information Officer; Harry Jones, Leader, Health IT, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Barry Burk, General Manager for Health, and IBM Canada. Conference host and moderator was Dr. John Weisbeck, MLA, Kelowna-Lake Country.
Presentations covered the points of view of Regional health CIOs, industry and local practitioners, as well as Electronic Health Records and the National Study of Health Care Technology Management in Canadian Teaching Hospitals.
