Strategies for Public Safety Transformation - Alberta Crisis Management Perspective
Fairmont Palliser Hotel, Calgary, Alberta
November 6-7, 2002
About the Conference
The Government of Alberta, led by the Solicitor General and the Minister of Municipal Affairs, gathered together more than 300 stakeholders from Alberta, including first responders, municipal governments, industry, and federal partners, to present Alberta's crisis management process. This pro-active, intelligence-driven plan has been designed to identify threats and ensure the safety and security of all Albertans.

This conference's main goal was to introduce the Province of Alberta's Crisis Management Process. Supporting presentations examined related current issues such as provincial initiatives, the municipal perspective, partnership in planning, what is terrorism and who are the terrorists, and biometrics for counterterrorism.
The delegates and presenters represented a wide range of organizations in the Alberta government, the federal government, and the private sector. Cabinet ministers and directors met with front-line municipal responders and people from the energy, health and agriculture sectors as well as the justice, police and security sectors.
Twelve business briefing sessions allowed our sponsors to present their solutions and success stories to the conference delegates, and an exhibition area allowed suppliers and government organizations to demonstrate and discuss their solutions and applications.
